Social media website has becoming an increasingly popular way of searching for jobs and for companies to search for potential employees. LinkedIn is great as it allows you to add all your information about your skills, experience and previous work placements and now you can even upload your CV. If you are in the process of looking for a job, be sure to change your LinkedIn profile so that recruiters can see you may be interested in positions they have available.
Facebook and Twitter are also used when it comes to finding jobs. Many companies will promote job vacancies they have coming up on social media sites either with contact details of who you can apply or with a link to the full details of the position advertised on their website.
If you are applying for a job through a social media site, be mindful, that unless you have changed your settings, the potential employer may be able to see all or your posts. This can have sometimes give a wrong impression or a negative view if you are not careful about what can be seen and what you post.

If you are looking for a new job as an administrator the good news is that there are plenty of different opportunities out there. Most companies need some form of administrator whether it’s at a basic data entry level or a more complex admin role within the financial or legal sector.
The pay for an administrator varies greatly depending on experience, company and the role that you are under taking. A higher level job with more responsibility that requires more qualifications should pay more than a basic admin role.
If you are already in an administration role then you may want to look into doing further training in particular areas of interest to further your career progression. Sometimes doing things like typing test can be good so that you can provide a potential employer with the information about how many words per minute you can type.
Some admin jobs may involve you being customer facing on a reception or working with others closely in the business so great people skills are a must along with good ICT skills and good maths and English.
You’ll need to be highly organised and work well under pressure but will find a very rewarding role in return.

If you are in the process of leaving an old job and starting a new one, you may find that you are feeling quite anxious and worried about the whole process. If possibly it is advisable to take a week or two off work in between leaving one job and starting the new one, especially if you have been in our current position for some time. Leaving old work colleges behind and getting your head in to a different routine with unfamiliar faces can take some time.
With your time off, spend a little bit of it researching your new company, maybe even see if you can pop in for a coffee to familiarise yourself with your surrounds prior to starting.
Before you start, plan what you are going to wear for your first week. Have it all cleaned and ironed ready to go so you don’t have to start panicking about it in the mornings and rushing around. Plan your journey to work and try and drive it a few times at the time you think you will need to leave so you can judge how long it will take in rush hour. The last thing you want to do is be late on your first day.
On your first day, remember to walk in with a smile and greet everyone you meet. If you have the opportunity to, introduce yourself and try and remember who people are and what their role is as this may be important later on.

With children starting back at school this month, many parents are on the hunt for jobs that will fit in with their school drop off and pick up times. With job opportunities on the rise, especially approaching Christmas, it shouldn’t be too hard to find a position that you can apply for but fitting the required numbers of hours in to your schedule can be another matter.
There is no point apply or taking a job that is not offering the hours you need unless you are able to put your children in afterschool / before school clubs, nursery or have a friend or family member who will be able to look after them. If you do use a friend or family member it is also important to have a back up plan should they fall ill or their plans change and they can no longer commit to looking after them.
Be honest and upfront with any potential employer and tell them of your current commitments and what hours you are available to work as this will not only avoid disappointment but will bode well for your future relationship with them in terms of trust and honesty.

Following on from the recession, people often still complain that there are too few jobs available to them and that getting a job has become a hard task. When looking for a new job you need to make sure that you have your CV up to date and that you write a good cover letter to send in. Some employers will not have the time to read through all of the CV’s so may make their initial eliminations based on the covering letter.
So where’s the best place to look to find these jobs? Well they are listed in a number of different places and a large percentage of them are online only. You can register to have access to a jobs board that will show a number of jobs privately advertised and through recruitment agencies. Some companies will only employ people who have come through a recruitment agency, so it is worth looking at these types of jobs too if you are serious about finding employment. Most agencies do not charge you when looking for a permanent position, as they take their cut from the employers but do be sure to always read terms and conditions in full.

With some many people still on the hunt for work, the competition for jobs is high meaning you need to be ahead of your game to land that job role that you have always wanted. Following the recession, many employers had to cut back on staff and as their business started to pick up again they started to look to recruit more people again. This has made some employers very wary and often leading them to only employ people that already have the skills and unnecessary training needed to do the job. For those employees who have little or no experience in similar roles, this can make it extremely difficult for them to find work.
Ideally to have the best chance of getting a job you need to ensure that you give yourself the best chance and this may include going on additional training courses, obtaining further qualifications or even doing some voluntary work to gain experience. You may also need to start slightly further down the ladder and work your way up to the position you want over time or start off on a lower wage whist you are undergoing training either in house or from an outside company.

The work place can be a great place for social interaction. If you have ever been self-employed or worked from home, you may well know how much you can miss the social interaction compared to when you work with other people in an office, factory or on site environment.
Having good social interaction with your work colleagues can make a massive difference to your job satisfaction and can help you excel in your career.
If you find that you are working with people that you do not have much in common with and find it hard to socialise with them then you may become withdrawn and not look forward to going to work
Many companies will realise the importance of team building and will organise events that you can take part in to allow you to get to know your work colleagues better. But if your company doesn’t offer this then why not try and arrange your own team building met up between yourselves.

If you are in a job position and want to improve your job role and satisfaction at work you may look at how you can improve your performance. When in a job role it is easy to become complacent and start to do the minimum to get by in your job. Over time this may start to show and will not only look bad to your employer but can take away a lot of the satisfaction you have in a job role.
When analysing your performance look at items such as your time management, organisation skills and quality of your work. See what part of your job takes you the longest and why and see what you could do to improve that. If you find that you are struggling in a particular area then you could ask your employer if it would be possibly for you to receive more training either internally or by going on a course.

The job of a book keeper is similar to that of an accountant. You would usually hire a book keeper to keep your records and accounts up to date throughout the year. They will often be responsible for inputting invoices and expenditures on an accounting system or on spreadsheets and may do tax and VAT returns for you. An accountant is usually more responsible for the year on year running of a business such as analysing incomings and outgoings, advising the client when and what they need to pay to HMRC and making any adjustment entries. Although the two roles are different many tasks may cross over in to the responsibility of a book keeper and accountant depending on the set up of the company.
To become a book keeper you do not need any qualifications but most employers look for a recognised book keeping qualification such as AAT.
